The Land of Infinite Possibilities

Arlene’s Artist Materials is proud to present The Land of Infinite Possibilities, a solo exhibition of new work by mixed media artist Tracy Loring, created during her residency at Arlene's. The exhibition will be on display from October 4 to October 25, 2024, in the R Gallery at Arlene’s. All are invited to the Artist Reception on Friday, October 4th, from 4:30 to 5:30 PM, where they can meet Tracy and explore her captivating work.

During her time as an Artist in Residence, Tracy Loring set out on an introspective journey to understand what drives her creative process. Her goal was to embrace spontaneity, allowing her artistic voice to evolve naturally. Each piece in The Land of Infinite Possibilities began as an exploration of color, texture, and emotion, emerging from a playful approach to painting. Loring embraced a process where she never knew the outcome until it appeared on the canvas.

This body of work invites viewers into a magical, dreamlike world. The Land of Infinite Possibilities is divided into three elements: the trees, known as the "Watchers," the vibrant garden, and the mysterious inhabitants. The "Watchers" stand sentinel over the land, while the garden blooms with colorful, surreal flowers that dance in the wind. The inhabitants walk among the flowers, tending to the land and embracing its beauty. Each piece bursts with color and texture, beckoning viewers to immerse themselves in the land’s whimsical, rule-free environment.

Tracy reflects on her Californian roots as inspiration for this work, drawing from memories of long drives through the state’s majestic landscapes. Her paintings are imbued with the natural beauty of redwoods, ocean vistas, and poppy-covered hills, all transformed through her lens of imagination and possibility.

Tracy Loring is a mixed media painter, art instructor, and intuitive coach who encourages others to embrace creativity. Her work leans towards abstraction and the fantastical, blending acrylics, oils, watercolors, and encaustic mediums. Tracy’s teaching style focuses on helping artists of all levels tap into their intuition and explore their subjects freely. She regularly shares her process and insights through her social media channels and YouTube, inspiring others to follow their artistic journeys.
