Opening Reception at GIFTED: Friday, December 6, 2024, from 6 to 9 pm

Arlene’s Artist Materials is excited to present Metamorphosis, a group exhibition featuring the latest works of current and past participants from the Artist In Residence (AIR) Program at Arlene’s. Showcasing artists Ottavia Huang, Aly Parrott, Rainier Bernhardt, Jackie Moylon, Maria DeAngelo, and Tracy Loring, this exhibition reveals their unique creative journeys while fostering a sense of community and celebrating the vibrancy of the Capital Region's art scene.

Opening on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 6–9 pm during GIFTED at the Albany Barn, Metamorphosis will be on view throughout December by appointment. This exhibition highlights both the artistic diversity of these talented residents and the AIR Program’s commitment to providing a dedicated environment for artists to delve into their creative pursuits. With an array of media and approaches, each artist's work reflects a personal narrative and creative growth that speaks to the transformative power of the program.

Maria DeAngelo explores existential themes through a minimal color palette and botanical motifs, capturing life’s complexity and fragility. Ottavia Huang presents landscapes with transparent colors and delicate lines, evoking peace and tranquility inspired by nature’s beauty. Tracy Loring combines fluid media with nature-inspired themes, exploring luminosity, color, and texture to encourage viewers to find joy in art. Aly Parrott delves into mythology and folklore through digital prints and watercolor, transporting viewers into a realm of archetypes and legends. Rainier Bernhardt brings a scientific eye to intricate paper-cut work and paintings, capturing the beauty and grief of the natural world. Finally, Jackie Moylon creates art books of diverse forms, reflecting her dual passions for education and creative expression.

Through these artists’ works, Metamorphosis forges stronger bonds within our creative community, contributing to the flourishing arts scene in the Capital Region. We invite you to join us in celebrating the achievements and artistic evolution of this talented group.
