Our four talented artists in residence—Maria DeAngelo, Ottavia Huang, Aly Parrott, and Tracy Loring—present a dynamic range of works, each reflecting their unique artistic journey. This exhibition highlights individual creativity while fostering community connections and promoting the Capital Region creative community.

The exhibition runs from July 1, 2024, through July 27, 2024, at Uncommon Grounds Coffee & Bagels, Stuyvesant Plaza, located at 1475 Western Ave Suite 9-11, Albany, NY 12203. There will be an artist reception on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, from 5 to 7 pm.

Artist In Residence (AIR) Program at Arlene’s provides artists with dedicated time, space, and a supportive community to delve into their artistic pursuits. Based at Arlene's Artist Materials in Albany, NY, the year-long program accommodates artists across various disciplines and media. By integrating multiple programs, we ensure a comprehensive residency experience that enriches both the individual artist and the broader creative community.

The exhibition aims to forge stronger bonds within the community by showcasing the diverse talents of our resident artists and collaborating with other organizations to spotlight the incredible creatives in our program, contributing to the flourishing Capital Region arts community.

The featured artists include Maria DeAngelo, who embarks on a personal exploration of existence, utilizing a limited color palette to connect life's fragments with the final layer of flora, encouraging viewers to appreciate life's intricacies symbolized through the transient beauty of flowers. Ottavia Huang captures urban and natural landscapes with light, transparent colors and simple lines to evoke peace and tranquility, conveying emotional depth through landscapes and promoting a sense of calmness in nature's beauty. Tracy Loring inspires joy through art by blending nature-inspired themes with fluid flowing media to explore luminosity, color, and texture. Tracy's workshop approach integrates intuition, texture, and beauty in everyday things, encouraging participants to embrace their inner artist. Aly Parrott, driven by mythology, folklore, and archetypes, explores ancient legends in digital prints and hero's journey mementos in watercolor and resin, transporting viewers to an uncharted yet familiar world steeped in myth and symbolism.

"Metamorphosis" aims to transcend artistic boundaries, inviting viewers to embark on a visual journey through the transformative works of our talented artists in residence. By fostering connections and collaborations, this exhibition contributes to the dynamic cultural tapestry of the Capital Region. We look forward to bringing "Metamorphosis" to life and appreciate your support in celebrating the artistic growth and achievements of Maria DeAngelo, Ottavia Huang, Aly Parrott, and Tracy Loring.
